“Was not their mistake once more bred of the life of slavery that they had been living?—a life which was always looking upon everything, except mankind, animate and inanimate—‘nature,’ as people used to call it—as one thing, and mankind as another, it was natural to people thinking in this way, that they should try to make ‘nature’ their slave, since they thought ‘nature’ was something outside them” — William Morris

New from Mattel: Scientism Action Figures

Just pull the strings on our fabulous new range of action figures and you will hear gems such as:

"I have a great idea, that no one has ever had. It's called skeptical empiricism!" Stephen Hawking

"Since I am a scientist, I am allowed to use ad hominem arguments and Palinist appeals to common sense." Sam Harris

"I am more intelligent than you, since I am predisposed to hear everything you say as nonsense, as you are a humanist." Richard Dawkins

"Tiny things and huge things are more real than medium-sized things." Thomas Metzinger

"The mind is reducible to neurons. New Agers say the Universe is a nonlocal hologram, like the physics guy across the quad. Wait a minute." Paul Churchland

"Folk you!" Paul Churchland

"You couldn't possibly understand the breathtaking infinity of Cantor sets, which is why Maoism is correct." A. Badiou

Loved it! Although I dispute most of Hawking's stranger ideas he was correct in this statement:

"Einstein was doubly wrong when he said, God does not play dice. Not only does God definitely play dice, but He sometimes confuses us by throwing them where they can't be seen."

Ah, the power of those pesky objects (dice) that keep on withdrawing... haha!
