“Was not their mistake once more bred of the life of slavery that they had been living?—a life which was always looking upon everything, except mankind, animate and inanimate—‘nature,’ as people used to call it—as one thing, and mankind as another, it was natural to people thinking in this way, that they should try to make ‘nature’ their slave, since they thought ‘nature’ was something outside them” — William Morris

Book of Architecture Essays

It looks like I'm going to be publishing a collection of my essays on architecture. You heard it here first! There are perhaps a surprising number of them, going way back to the later 2000s. I'm very happy to be doing that as I'm teaching a bit at groovy Sci-Arc heading up a program called Synthetic Landscapes. (Our slogan: STOP MAKING SELFIES OUT OF NONHUMAN BEINGS.)

Looking forward to your thoughts on the subject... I long ago created a Twitter list of influencers in architecture: https://twitter.com/i/lists/96908383

And because in the US capitalism is pricing most people out of affordable housing we're may be moving into a new era of, or maybe returning to a simpler time of, migratory structures as our sense of home.

All of us who live on the margins of affordability will be wise to design and build a beautiful camper or tiny house as a back up plan.
