“Was not their mistake once more bred of the life of slavery that they had been living?—a life which was always looking upon everything, except mankind, animate and inanimate—‘nature,’ as people used to call it—as one thing, and mankind as another, it was natural to people thinking in this way, that they should try to make ‘nature’ their slave, since they thought ‘nature’ was something outside them” — William Morris

Vsauce Says Hyperobject

I don't quite know who YouTubers are. Of course I do, but not like my kids do. So I'm not sure quite why they got so excited about this chap talking about my book about four minutes in. But he does appear to have about 17 million followers and this got about 2 million hits when I saw it just now.

The word hyperobject is great I think, because it makes you feel like a cool scientist. And we need more people feeling that way.

in natural language, an instance of the paradox of entailment arises:

It is raining
And

It is not raining
Therefore

George Washington is made of rakes.

Hi

I'm readling Being and event at the moment, (which uses ZFC as an ontology) which it seems is incapble of dealing with Classes - so I dont see it functioning a a metaontology! But have come across the ideas of inconsistent mathematics. The upshot being contadictions are allowed! Plus the rejection of naive set theory allows any satement to be logically true. Which strikes me as something OOO might be aware of.
