“Was not their mistake once more bred of the life of slavery that they had been living?—a life which was always looking upon everything, except mankind, animate and inanimate—‘nature,’ as people used to call it—as one thing, and mankind as another, it was natural to people thinking in this way, that they should try to make ‘nature’ their slave, since they thought ‘nature’ was something outside them” — William Morris

The Tory Approach to the National Health Service

“This teevee done got broke,” said the man with the axe. So he went to work on the dvd player, the sound system and the wiring.

Why is he a racist southern white stereotype? Some objects are better than others?

Only because the current Tories, some of whom I went to school with, would wince to be compared to that. Personal experience, of course, shows me that I find the southern chaps infinitely more civilized than the barbarians running Britain right now. I'd take any truck driver from here over Cameron, any day of the week, for empathy, moral sophistication and technical savvy.

PS: I mean that.

Everytime McDonalds or Asda has a job opening, it gets like 500 applicants, that's in the small town I live in. The Tories are more concerned with making people work for the dole, zero hours contracts and all that other shit. They also despise foodbanks because it gets in the way of what they seem to believe is the magical ability of the human will to generate capital if it only has the right attitude. But more importantly, we are facing total collapse within a decade or more unless we get about 10 new nuclear power plants. The lights will literally go off since the anti carbon laws are closing down the coal plants and the nuclear plants we have now are almost all approaching the end of their lifespan. This is something you and the OOO people must work on. Convincing those who have this ideal of a benevolent nature that they are dangerously deluded. In N.I. where I live the green party blocked the construction of a nuclear plant in 2006! We have people choosing between eating and electricity and it will get much much worse unless whatever government there is over the next few years commits to nuclear.
