“Was not their mistake once more bred of the life of slavery that they had been living?—a life which was always looking upon everything, except mankind, animate and inanimate—‘nature,’ as people used to call it—as one thing, and mankind as another, it was natural to people thinking in this way, that they should try to make ‘nature’ their slave, since they thought ‘nature’ was something outside them” — William Morris

Happy birthday Claire!
It was my daughter's birthday today as well.
We went for a walk on Saltdean undercliff pass near Brighton. Wnen we reached the end (for there is one), we were confronted with first a sign telling us not to clamber further past the rocks and then another not to enter the caves. Caves! I had no idea they were there! I want to clamber over the rocks. It's Bart's damn, 'Don't press this button' button, in warning sign form!
But my little girl is only one and still in a buggy, so I controlled my urges, and we went home and had cake.
Happy birthday again, Claire. :-)
