“Was not their mistake once more bred of the life of slavery that they had been living?—a life which was always looking upon everything, except mankind, animate and inanimate—‘nature,’ as people used to call it—as one thing, and mankind as another, it was natural to people thinking in this way, that they should try to make ‘nature’ their slave, since they thought ‘nature’ was something outside them” — William Morris

Hyperobjects Liveblog 10

10 200 words, that's a lot more than I thought I'd have by today. I'm going to call it a night. Blogging about my fear of opening up the “Time of Hyperobjects” section pushed me to open it up. I'm happy about that. It doesn't feel good to have corners you are afraid to go. I'm still afraid to write it, and rightfully so: some of this stuff is fearful, in fact quite a lot of it is. We're talking about global warming and nuclear bombs here. It's like taking notes at a fabulous fashion show in Hell.
