The drummer of Yes, erstwhile drummer for Lennon. To be absolutely honest I prefer his drumming to Bill Bruford's, in the end (!). Yeah I know I know but, technically proficient isn't the same as musically powerful. Heavy heavy action paintings.
This is another heretical thing especially as I love 70s Yes. But I also love 80s Yes and this is an underrated amazing album, one of their best, and this is one of the most extraordinary things they ever made, I feel. Underground nuclear testing is a theme in the background, and world revolution is the foreground. And it's got some extra heavy White drumming...

my dad played the violin solo on Larks' Tongues in Aspic. You can hear the difference between him and Cross (the other stuff--sorry Cross, not as good). Yes.
