“Was not their mistake once more bred of the life of slavery that they had been living?—a life which was always looking upon everything, except mankind, animate and inanimate—‘nature,’ as people used to call it—as one thing, and mankind as another, it was natural to people thinking in this way, that they should try to make ‘nature’ their slave, since they thought ‘nature’ was something outside them” — William Morris

Alan White RIP

The drummer of Yes, erstwhile drummer for Lennon. To be absolutely honest I prefer his drumming to Bill Bruford's, in the end (!). Yeah I know I know but, technically proficient isn't the same as musically powerful. Heavy heavy action paintings.

This is another heretical thing especially as I love 70s Yes. But I also love 80s Yes and this is an underrated amazing album, one of their best, and this is one of the most extraordinary things they ever made, I feel. Underground nuclear testing is a theme in the background, and world revolution is the foreground. And it's got some extra heavy White drumming...

Blake Interview Today

I've done a lot of interviews but this is a very exciting one for me, with the Blake Society of the UK. I've been wanting to write about Blake since I was 19 and finally I've found a way to do so.
