My name is Milo, and I am a dram...Dear Timothies!

My name is Milo, and I am a dramaturge at HaDivadlo Theatre in Brno, Czech Republic. Next season will be our 50th anniversary. We were raised from the avant-garde movement in the 70´ s in East Europe. It will be a season full of remembering... On the other hand, we know that we live right now, and our mission is to look to the future.

We read some of their texts - Ecological Being (now translated to Czech), Hyperobjects, Dark Ecology, All Art is Ecological, Stuff of Life- and look forward to their book about Hell! We consider it a crucial part of the literature of our time for many reasons. In our discussions, we had an idea to stage their philosophy, but we found it dumb just trying to "dramatise" something from your text.

And because we know they are fans of comedy and working on the poetics of theatre right now, we want to ask them if they found it interesting just to write us a drama, fiction, or kind of non-fictional fiction story for the contemporary society of the middle of Europe. Or maybe they have some stories somewhere in the drawer and will share them with us.

We are looking for utopias and better futures, and this is our utopia - trying to ask them - Timothy Morton - to write something special for us or send us something we transform to be done alive on stage.

P. S.
If you have a libretto from the opera Time, time, time... I am also curious.Milo Juráni https://www.blogger.com/profile/12035664805562880642noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1438289051411770399.post-86791654623344742932023-12-28T12:47:13.365-06:002023-12-28T12:47:13.365-06:00Gone?Gone?R.B. What is more problematic is how to translate the attitudes to groups-that-have-to trhink, to interpersonally, to decision making . How to allow a communal how and as you rightly say, to arrive at a what. So also believe that the where is the why. In the nightclub, in america. Place gives rise to the particular. Last night, photons from Stephans quintet (a galaxy group some 280 millions light years away / old) hit my retina with a little help from a piece of glass in my modest backyard telescope. Made me feel just a tiny bit like the mirror in the Webb telescope. Time, whatever it is, is awesome.

I am at the moment reading "Dark Ecology". Really inspiring, thank you!!! I also enjoyed "Human kind" and "Hyperobjects" very much. The latter inspired a new project in my work as a composer called "Interobjective soundscapes" in which I try to challenge different spatio-temporal aspects of experiencing sound and music. For instance, I explore performances with graphic scores shown to the audience as simultaneous visual expression of the sound they hear.

I am also working on a new piece to last for more than a year. The time passing between the different movements of the piece is vast, several months. Then, a new movement will be performed. How will the experience of the work as a whole be affected by the passing of time?

I have always been concerned about ecology, and about art as an expression of interconnectedness between humans and non-humans. Reading your books and getting to know OOO has opened up new ways of approaching this aspect of my work, for this I am very grateful (and it also goes well with my interest in physics and astronomy :-))

All the best,
Sigurd HoleSigurd Holehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14691981201386320159noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1438289051411770399.post-62355417009334388002023-09-16T07:16:58.874-06:002023-09-16T07:16:58.874-06:00I LOVE Whitney Bauman so much. I studied Blake and came to the conclusion I was a Christian in the same sense as him; animistic, in the tradition of the Ranters; seeing imagination as "the body of Christ"; but with a tendency toward universalism / Catholicism (in the spirit of someone like Thomas Merton). I have some thoughts along the lines of Altizer's 'Christian Atheism', and the idea that Christ's kenosis involved an 'emptying out' of himself into the world. The problem is that there is no modern church that corresponds to anything like these ideas.

I wrote an essay about why I see Blake as a Ranter, or in t he tradition of the Ranters, in terms of their common ideas in interpreting the Bible, here (skip to part two: Blake and the Ranters): https://travellerintheevening.substack.com/p/blake-and-the-mad-crew-ranters-andAndy Wilsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02924095142896842449noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1438289051411770399.post-59495606640215103662023-09-09T09:14:04.404-06:002023-09-09T09:14:04.404-06:001.
