“Was not their mistake once more bred of the life of slavery that they had been living?—a life which was always looking upon everything, except mankind, animate and inanimate—‘nature,’ as people used to call it—as one thing, and mankind as another, it was natural to people thinking in this way, that they should try to make ‘nature’ their slave, since they thought ‘nature’ was something outside them” — William Morris

Hydrocarbon Art and Food at Rice Next Year

Courtesy of Marina Zurkow. Joseph Campana and I (congratulations on tenure Joe!) received a large grant to put together an energy arts initiative. I'm very excited Zurkow is coming. We have plans for a documentary, book of recipes, and of course the actual meal. It is going to be mega.

If you don't know Zurkow's work yet, you should.
