“Was not their mistake once more bred of the life of slavery that they had been living?—a life which was always looking upon everything, except mankind, animate and inanimate—‘nature,’ as people used to call it—as one thing, and mankind as another, it was natural to people thinking in this way, that they should try to make ‘nature’ their slave, since they thought ‘nature’ was something outside them” — William Morris

Better than Syberberg

How do you do Parsifal better than Syberberg?

You set it inside the wound in a obviously eco-catastrophic world. (Click for videos.)

Looks like the replay of the HD broadcast of Parsifal will be March 20th -- at a movie theater near you.

I attended the live HD broadcast on March 2nd. A great production with a dream cast. Rene Pape as Gurnemanz gives the performance of a lifetime.

The opening stage picture is the cast sitting in chairs, an audience looking directly at the audience in the theater. There's an immediate connection -- what you're about to see isn't about some other people in some faraway time. This is about you. Right now.
