“Was not their mistake once more bred of the life of slavery that they had been living?—a life which was always looking upon everything, except mankind, animate and inanimate—‘nature,’ as people used to call it—as one thing, and mankind as another, it was natural to people thinking in this way, that they should try to make ‘nature’ their slave, since they thought ‘nature’ was something outside them” — William Morris

Hanging with the Dead at Point Reyes

This part of the Cali coast has a lot of property owned by The Grateful Dead. The guy whose place I was staying at was a friend of the drummer. Conservative guy but very open in a Marin County way. He had stories about going backstage to find 250 hangers on at any one show...he said Mickey Hart et al told each other how much they loved one another on a regular basis. Otherwise, how could you get through the mechanism of touring?

Beautiful beaches here. Sparkling sand. Empty.
