Yes. One of my heroes. The reason I write so much of what I write. DJ Pierre, who turned an envelope filter on the Roland TR-303 baseline and changed music. Who made scary dance music, an innovation in itself: acid house.
I was on a panel with him at IMS Ibiza this week, having given the keynote to set the tone for the whole conference of about 1000 DJs, producers and musicians. Other panelists included DJ Madame Gandhi, who was brilliant, and Georgia Taglietti, who seemed to have read everything I had ever done, Maria May and Ruth Daniel, who both spoke plangently on the ethical and political dimensions of techno.

Hi, Tim. Just thought I'd drop by. Perhaps you'd be interested in something I just wrote about irises: https://3quarksdaily.com/3quarksdaily/2024/04/the-irises-are-blooming-early-this-year.html
What a pleasure it was to meet you Timothy. Having attended every IMS, since the first summit in 2008, I've listened to and spoken with some inspirational people, however very few (if any) have had perspectives as interesting as yours. Your speech and subsequent comments on dance music, DJs and club culture were characteristically insightful and unique. I spoke to you briefly afterwards, and you expressed an interest in reading some of my recent writing work. I'll try to send you a link through this site. Bests, Ian
What a pleasure and privilege it was to listen to you talk in Ibiza. Having attended every IMS, since the first summit in 2008, I've had the chance to meet and speak with many inspirational people, however very few (if any) could express similar insights into the importance or significance of music, DJing, club culture and dance floors, as you shared last week. I was the stage co-ordinator, and we spoke briefly after your panel. I told you that I'd recently published some of my own writing, and you said you'd be interested in reading it. I'll try to send you a link through this site. Bests, Ian
