Big Big News

I'm uploading my classes, again! After over ten years of refraining from doing so, I'm going to be uploading a whole new course in literary criticism. Head over to Soundcloud. I'll link to the courses in the "Classes" part of this blog too.

You'll want to check these out. I think my teaching got better, but that's for you to judge. And what I teach has shifted and changed and developed. For example, you'll be bearing my theory of drama that I'm now publishing with Columbia.

  1. Dear Timothies!

My name is Milo, and I am a dramaturge at HaDivadlo Theatre in Brno, Czech Republic. Next season will be our 50th anniversary. We were raised from the avant-garde movement in the 70´ s in East Europe. It will be a season full of remembering... On the other hand, we know that we live right now, and our mission is to look to the future.

We read some of their texts - Ecological Being (now translated to Czech), Hyperobjects, Dark Ecology, All Art is Ecological, Stuff of Life- and look forward to their book about Hell! We consider it a crucial part of the literature of our time for many reasons. In our discussions, we had an idea to stage their philosophy, but we found it dumb just trying to "dramatise" something from your text.

And because we know they are fans of comedy and working on the poetics of theatre right now, we want to ask them if they found it interesting just to write us a drama, fiction, or kind of non-fictional fiction story for the contemporary society of the middle of Europe. Or maybe they have some stories somewhere in the drawer and will share them with us.

We are looking for utopias and better futures, and this is our utopia - trying to ask them - Timothy Morton - to write something special for us or send us something we transform to be done alive on stage.

    P. S.
If you have a libretto from the opera Time, time, time... I am also curious.
