Have you read Bifo's new Verso book on mass killings and mass suicide? The mass killings follow a very obvious pattern. They almost all tend to be justified by social Darwinist arguments about culling the herd of the weak, aka neoliberalism incarnated in an individual human with an AK.
I wonder whether this will be the justification for the San Bernadino disabled and special needs facility shooting today.
That bet is a guaranteed win. I don't know about when someone slaughters people more or less like themselves (e.g. other children and fellow college students) but when they're specifically targeting disabled people it's pretty easy to gauge what kind of hate is being philosophically justified.
ReplyDeleteBerardi's interdisciplinary tour de force on neuroplasticity and other things and killings, publicized on the [Spectre] listserve for the last month, is way cool. How much different is this from Carl Schmitt through Derrida on the permanent state of exception? How many ambulences and police klaxons does the state believe I need to hear each hour for the terror and conformity to become part of my material being? Is Chi-raq a huge open air prison without walls except of poverty and neoliberal structural oppression? Bifo gives a very much a behind the code look in alignment with TM's the patriarchy erupts in mourning recent posts. I have not read the book but the podcast is weirdly tranquil.

I think Verso is all like 50% off right now as part of the neoliberal Consumer Christmas. Anyway they sent me an email.
