"Why Won't They Compromise?"

"The entire government is shut down right now because Washington Democrats refuse to even talk about fairness for all Americans under ObamaCare," Steel said. "Offering to negotiate only after Democrats get everything they want is not much of an offer."

The whole of Obamacare is a compromise. It was hammered out, often distressingly, over a year plus by Republicans and Democrats.

BBC and foreign news services, beware of "objectivity" and false equivalencies in this. I had to write to the BBC already about their calling Obamacare a "bill" (the Republican spin).

  2. Good call...the ACA is a *law*, passed by both houses of Congress and signed by the president. This appears to be something some have forgotten.

  3. Its important to also remember that the spending levels they are talking about for the CR and the budget are below Paul Ryan's budget levels. The Republicans have already won. The Democrats lost. In other words, republicans are refusing to compromise because they've already got the sequester and the budget they want, so why stop there? Of course they use the standard Republican line of claiming its the Democrats who refuse to compromise...
