“Was not their mistake once more bred of the life of slavery that they had been living?—a life which was always looking upon everything, except mankind, animate and inanimate—‘nature,’ as people used to call it—as one thing, and mankind as another, it was natural to people thinking in this way, that they should try to make ‘nature’ their slave, since they thought ‘nature’ was something outside them” — William Morris

Prosthetic Goodness

My schizophrenic brother Steve finally got a MacBook pro, after many years of doubting and paranoia. I kept on talking away like a stuck record and finally he got one.

It has been a true savior. Since he finds it almost impossible to leave his house, he can now record music. Since the computer organizes everything for him he was able to summon his old Senser band mades James and Kerstin and record bass and vocals. He plays drums: remember he was going to be in Jamiroquai, or Big Audio Dynamite, or the Young Disciples, and had recorded numerous songs before he went crazy. And he trained and started Senser, whom some of you may know.

Since that happened, he has gotten his schizophrenic housemate Nigel to make the CD cover, and the next door neighbor who happens to be a wonderful photographer for newspapers (retired), has donated a photo.

This is the benign side of computers. Right? Right?
