Ecocriticism Goes MLA

I just got this: The ASLE leadership is aware of this gap in division status for ecocriticism, and has plans to address it. It is on our EC annual meeting agenda, scheduled for next month, to discuss and make a plan to apply for division status. We will work with our current MLA liaison, Rosario Michelle Ramirez Matabuena, to go through the process. Thanks for your concerns about this, and if you are interested in volunteering to assist with this project, I am sure she would love to have your help. She can be reached at mmr07e@my.fsu.edu. I had never heard a request for ASLE to compile a list of eco-focused panels at MLA, but I think it is a great idea and something we can also pursue in the future. Thanks for all your great ideas and suggestions! Enough of the future, here is something in the now: ASLE Reception at MLA For this year's MLA in Seattle, Rosario has made plans to help raise the profile of ASLE by hosting a small networking meeting and reception: Saturday, January 7 8:45-10pm Sheraton Seattle Hotel, Boren meeting room (listed on their website as located in the Union Street Tower - Fourth Floor). There will be a small selection of desserts and a cash bar--and of course some great people to talk to! If you are attending MLA, please come join us at this event!
