Today I gathered together a 70 page chunk of Hyperobjects, and cut it to a 39 page paper, which in the large font I like to read from, will be just under an hour's lecture for the philosophy keynote I'm doing.
Cutting is very much part of writing. It's very pleasurable once you get into it. You have to write first. Then you cut. They are different kinds of cognitive act with different kinds of pleasure.
